Full of the charming DIY kits that Summers were made for, the launch includes a variety of custom kits so you can create to your heart's content.

To celebrate the launch of our DIY Knotty Rope Kits, we sat down with Ariel to take a look back at how this special little collection came to be.

What was the inspiration behind collaborating with Erica (again)?

Erica and I always have so much fun together. Our friendship goes back over a decade but grew stronger when I moved to the Bay Area. We both love the thrill of the hunt and actively seek out special little treasures to perk us up. We surround ourselves with bright color and have the more is more attitude. A few months ago we were hanging out (at the Madonna concert) and talking about how much fun we had scheming up our first collab. I was saying how I wish I had a cute phone lanyard in that moment. Erica's crafty little self jumped in and the DIY Knotty Rope kits were born.

How did you decide to work with the DIY Knotty Rope?

The materials are accessible (which is a refreshing change of pace for me in these wild times of the gold prices) but our application makes them feel elevated. I love a mix of high and low.

Is there any particular meaning behind the partnership/kits?

Summertime is the primo time to sit around with a pile of craft supplies and play.  With friends, with kids, by the pool, on a plane. Sometimes I forget to do this in the hectic pace of my life and it's been so fun having these kits as a little reminder.

What are your favorite pieces?

I mean the possibilities are endless. I love the flexibility of the kits and the only limit is what you can think up. But hands down - the cross body phone lanyard is my GO TO piece for sure. I've been using it nonstop (on dogwalks, at photoshoots, at the IRL Archive sale, walking the vintage jewelry show in Vegas, in the bleachers at my son's baseball games, on my recent summer travel to Europe to see Taylor Swift). Hands free is the way for me.

How do you plan to incorporate the pieces in your #agjeveryday?

I love that I can layer the rope pieces with my AGJ gold jewelry and it still looks chic. I made a Tutti Frutti anklet with the pearl spacer beads and I've been wearing it with my Cuban Anklet for months. I've also loved wearing my XL Helium heart pendant on the thick highlighter yellow / green cord from the Neon Dream kit.

How will you create yours? So many fun moments with Erica, captured by Jessi Caparella.
